Its always easy to feature global brands of cosmetics and skincare on this blog. They makeup 99.9% of the brands in the shelves in our stores.
What is really special is discovering great brands that are manufactured right here in my island, Barbados. The brands are few and far between but recently I’ve been starting to see a number of cosmetics brands marketing themselves as made in Barbados by Barbadians.
Thus far I haven’t been able to try much from these brands as yet, but that is a situation I expect to rectify in the very near future.
Here is a list of Barbadian/Bajan Brands now available on the market and where they are available:
1. Jolie lipsticks
These lipsticks have been taking my Facebook newsfeed by storm with a promise of unique, moisturising lipcolours.
Sukina Sandiford in Jolie lipsticks
They have very recently launched their product at the 2012 BMEX tradeshow and it seems that they are not as yet featured in any storefronts. However their Facebook page encourages you to contact them to check out their products.
2. Aerii Lipbalms
Another lip product,this time of the moisturising kind has also recently launched at the BMEX 2012 trade show. They featured flavoured balms that have a clear Bajan influence. I hear we should try out their snow-cone flavoured balm.
Don’t know what a snow cone is? Its a crushed ice beverage with various flavours of syrup.

3. Make Up Doll Cosmetics
Is a full range cosmetics line that launched in 2011.They offer eyeshadows lipcolours and most recently lashes.
What is even more exciting is that this brand has already branched out into neighbouring island of Trinidad.

3. Mixology by Bajan Beauty Enterprises.
These products have been circulating since 2010. They manufacture skincare products for face and body. I have had the pleasure of using their body lotion. Check out their website here.

Make Up Doll eye-shadows are AMAZING. They are vibrant, true to colour and they show up on my dark complexion.
Jolie lipsticks have great potential. I bought a frosty lilac colour at BMEX 2012 and it looks lovely on me. The only cons are that I have to use lip-balm as a base so that it glides on easily and the actual lipstick looked home-made i.e it did not have the smooth professional finish that store bought lipsticks have.
