Two sunscreens to try this summer

Well I live in Barbados where its summer all year round. its just rainy summer or dry summer. But in July I did discover and rediscover two pretty good sunblocks.

A couple of years ago I discovered and fell in love with the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock.  I’ve strayed since then but in June I happened upon this product again. Now I wonder why I ever strayed. The product description says that it leaves a matte dry to the touch feeling. To be honest that may be overstating it a bit. It does have a ‘liquidy’ texture that is lightweight on the skin and is certainly a lot less greasy than traditional mineral based sunscreens. The real winner of this product though is that this was the first sunblock I ever discovered that didn’t leave the infamous white cast that sunblock typically leaves behind.  So, old-time something come back again 🙂 and I still love it.

In July I was browsing the skin care aisle of the supermarket and came across this product. The Neutrogena clear face Break out free liquid lotion sunblock. I know some persons complain of break-outs from sunblock. I’ve never been one, however I am currently struggling with an unfortunate hormonal acne problem so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to pick up this baby.

To be very honest I find the texture of this product almost exactly the same as the Dry touch sunscreen. It also doesnt give you the grey-white cast. It does contain some ingredients that are said to be antibacterial and antiseptic, which is a plus for acne prone skins but they are dead last on the ingredients list so it isn’t likely that there is very much present in the product.. These are the cedar bark, cinnamon extracts.

They say the proof is in the pudding and thus far my hormonal acne hasn’t flared any more with this product so I consider it a win.

What sunblock are you using?

Until next post.

Given that I work in the sun, I’ve always needed to invest in a great sunblock. You know, it’d suck to have an awesome body (due to my strict exercise, and eating regimen), only to have that juxtaposed with wrinkly, leathery skin. That said, every sunblock that I’d tried over the years had the same horrible effect: Increased acne. And, we’re not talking about little pimples… We’re talking about I’m-reverting-back-to-my-fucking-teenaged-years pimples; the kind that hurt horribly. Just over a year ago, a friend of mine (@interlaceBB) suggested that I try Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock.

I’ve got to say, hands down, this is THE BEST sunblock I have EVER used.
Today, while perusing another local blog, I came across another suggestion.
    Check it out!
