Review: Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil is a bit of a drag

I find that the most effective way to remove makeup by far is by the use of oil based cleansers and balms. They simply dissolve all make up so efficiently that I’ve been totally converted.

You apply the oil cleanser to the face, and work it in to the makeup to break it up and then rinse with water and both the water and the oil cleanser turn to a milky emulsion and rinse cleanly away. The Josie Maran Argan cleansing oil is no exception. It removed makeup efficiently and rinsed cleanly as an oil cleanser should.

I do have one issue with this cleanser however. I find that when applied to the skin that it feels a bit thick against that skin and its a bit harder than I would like to smooth onto the face. In short, if I’m not very careful I can end up dragging on the skin because the oil is so viscous.

I picked up this sample size when I traveled through the United States in a Sephora and it is not currently available in Barbados. However there are some great oil cleansers that are available in Barbados such as the Oil Cleanser from MAC cosmetics and the Ren Cleansing Balm which is reviewed here. Even though the Ren Cleansing balm is of a thicker creamier consistency in the jar it by no means has the thick, sticky, viscous feeling on the skin that  the Josie Maran does.

In short the Josie Maran Argan cleansing Oil works, but I wouldn’t rush to purchase while traveling or to  order online.

Have you ever tried a cleansing oil or balm?

Until Next Post.
